In the past few years the East Coast one day race has felt somewhat like a dying breed as race after race has vanished from the calendar – the Bear Mountain Spring Classic, Housatonic Hills and now Pawling… all gone.
With the end of those classics tri-state area cyclists have that many fewer chance to empty their tank while fighting for a single shot at glory.
While logistics and economics have led to the demise of many one day races, one such race has grown in both size and stature – The Tour of the Battenkill.
Why? Is it because it’s first on the calender? Is it because of the dirt roads?
We don’t entirely know.
But we know one thing…
Battenkill is here.
See you all in Cambridge.
Good luck to everyone racing.
2012 Tour of the Battenkill from TeamSixcycle.com
Battenkill 2012 was once again blessed (or cursed depending on your personal preference) with beautiful weather. While this weather was perhaps altogether too pleasant for the tastes of some riders, it did allow Team Sixcycle to capture so terrific pictures from this classic of the Spring racing calendar. A few chosen pictures are included below, as well as the video compliation of all 6,000+ on the bike pictures that Team Sixcycle captured. Check out our Facebook page for additional pictures from a beautiful day of racing.
